Biography

Briane House has been a practicing attorney and executive for 37 years. He is a partner with the Greenfield firm of Pritzke & Davis. He has tried numerous lawsuits in both state and federal courts across Indiana. A significant portion of his practice is defending lawyers sued for legal malpractice. Additionally he represents corporations and businesses as well as elected and appointed officials. He has briefed and argued appeals in the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to professional liability defense and civil litigation generally, House also practices in the areas general business, real estate, development and zoning, and probate.

He is an honors graduate of Wabash College and spent one semester at St. John's College, Oxford University. He graduated from the IU McKinney School of Law in 1982. In law school he was a member of the intramural moot court championship team and participated in the national moot court competition

As a lawyer/executive he worked for ProLiance Energy, and with a team of lawyers structured a significant gas purchase transaction with the Indiana Bond Bank and the Indiana Municipal Gas Authority. He also provided counsel on all aspects of human resources, regulatory compliance and a wide variety of transactional and contractual matters. For six years, he was senior counsel to the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) where he represented the company's interests in numerous corporate matters and directly handled or managed litigation for the company. Following the sale of IPALCO Enterprises to AES, he was acting COO of Cleveland Energy Resources, a Steam and Chilled Water distribution company and managed the company during a period of transition.

Following his election on November 6, 2007, Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard named House as General Counsel to his Transition Team Executive Committee. Upon taking office, Ballard named House Chairman of the Indianapolis Local Public Improvement Bond Bank Board where he served for six years. He is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Quality Connection, a labor management partnership representing 100 union NECA electrical contractors and 2,500 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers who are members of local #481.
